Afar reports that Qantas airline has become one of the first major global carriers to officially require vaccinations for COVID-19 as a requirement for international boarding. As part of its announcement that it intends to restart international flights in December, the airline’s Group CEO Alan Joyce stated that “Qantas will have a policy that internationally we’ll only be carrying vaccinated passengers.” No details were provided about enforcement methods or whether exceptions would be made for those underage or with medical reasons for not being vaccinated. The plans for flights resuming will also depend on the nation of Australia vaccinating 80 percent of its adult population, which is currently projected.
