Agoda launches ‘Vaxxed To Go’ Korea
The campaign promises great travel deals for vaccinated travellers while supporting sustainable travel to local destinations

With the demand for domestic travel remaining strong amid overseas travel restrictions and the upcoming spring season, several local tourism boards have been looking for ways to support the travel industry by introducing safe and comfortable tour destinations and encouraging Korean travellers to enjoy the spring with family and friends. Accordingly, Agoda, a global digital travel platform, has launched its “Vaxxed To Go” campaign to offer vaccinated travellers safe journeys and the opportunity to get great deals, while sustainably supporting the recovery of Korea’s travel industry from the global pandemic.
The campaign is specially designed to promote “vaxications,” to help hotels attract those ready and willing to travel, and Agoda’s hotel partners taking part will provide incentives to Korean travellers who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with special travel deals, following successful “Vaxxed To Go” campaigns in Malaysia and the Philippines.
Furthermore, as part of its sustainable objectives, Agoda will partner with Korea Green Foundation to support the campaign to reduce the prevalence of single-use plastics and protect the environment at local tourist destinations ahead of the travel industry returning to normal. According to Agoda’s Sustainable Travel Trends Survey released last June, among Koreans’ top responses on pledges for more sustainable travel were creating less waste during travel (e.g., using less single-use plastics), looking for eco-friendly accommodation, managing one’s carbon footprint and picking up litter at the beach.
Hotels across the country are signing up to participate in Agoda’s Vaxxed to Go campaign, including Grand Josun Jeju, Grand Walkerhill Seoul, and Paradis Hotel Busan, and consumers can search and book their preferred properties on a dedicated Vaxxed To Go [https://www.agoda.com/c/vaxxedtogo_kr] on both the Agoda website and app. To protect both accommodation staff and guests, the deals are only available to travellers who can prove to the hotel at check-in that they are fully vaccinated. With every booking made through the Vaxxed to Go campaign, Agoda will donate KRW 1000 (capped at a total donation value of KRW 25 million) towards Korea Green Foundation’s Earth Plogging campaign. The Earth Plogging campaign was launched in 2020 to protect the marine ecosystem and raise awareness that the oceans are inundated with trash.
The booking period for these special deals will be from March 21 to April 3, 2022, and stay period is from March 21 to April 30.
“After COVID-19 shut down the world, Ironically, the environment was restored on its own. Now we must think about the environmental impact of our action now. We have to choose sustainable tourism in order to preserve beautiful ocean and green forest. Therefore, this collaboration between Agoda and Korea Green Foundation is very important. We hope the ‘Vaxxed to Go’ campaign will deliver the value of sustainable travel to more people. I also hope the campaign would help tourism industry recover from COVID-19, ” said Tae Yong Jung, Director of the KGF.
“We hope to play a role in reviving the domestic travel industry — which has been one of the hardest-hit economic sectors following the pandemic – with the Vaxxed to Go campaign which offers great value deals to encourage vaccinated people to feel safe and confident to travel again this springtime. By Partnering with the Korea Green Foundation, we hope to encourage a sustainable return to travel, both economically for our partners and environmentally As we’ve already witnessed through last year’s travel survey, travellers want to seek more responsible and sustainable travel choices This is a small step, but we hope this activity will create momentum to remind everyone the importance of responsible travel during their trips with family or friends, and thus more pleasantly enjoy exploring destinations.” Said Jay Lee, Country Director for South Korea at Agoda.
