Changing the description for hotel-type properties and multi-unit homes   

How are property descriptions generated? 

Your Agoda listing will include two types of property descriptions — the short description and the dynamic description. These descriptions are automatically generated using the information you provide in YCS and will be reviewed by Agoda for compliance, length, and quality. 

  • The short description summarizes key highlights and essential information about your property.  It is displayed below your property name in the Overview section of your Agoda listing. 
  •  The dynamic description includes more detailed information about your property facilities, review score, nearby landmarks, and more. It is displayed in the More about section of your Agoda listing.  

Agoda follows specific guidelines to create property descriptions: 

  • Descriptions are written in paragraph form, limited to 160 words. 
  • Content is original and not copied from other websites. 
  • Third-person perspective is used; first-person terms like “we” or “our” are avoided. 
  • Key details include the property’s location, facilities, unique features, and main selling points. 
  • Directions, policies, public notes, and unnecessary facility details are excluded. 
  • Language is clear and concise, without excessive adjectives or flowery phrases. 
  • Competitors and other hotels are not mentioned.

Updating the content in your property description   

Property descriptions can only be changed by updating the related details in YCS.  

  1. Sign in to YCS. If you manage multiple properties, select it from Listings. 
  2. Go to Property >> Property settings. 
  3. Select the category of the setting on the left-hand side, such as: Property location, Property age policy, Property services, Sports and recreation, etc. 
  4. Edit the details as needed, then click Save. 

Any changes made in YCS will reflect in your description approximately 14 days from being saved and may differ depending on the language. In the event your property description does not match the information provided in YCS, please contact us for assistance.

Changing the description for your property

  1. Sign in to YCS. If you manage multiple properties, select it from Listings. 
  2. Go to Property >> Description. 
  3. Edit your property description under Describe your place. 
  4. Click Save. 

Tips for writing your description 

To make your description easy for guests to digest, break it up into chunks with clear topic sentences or sub-headers so customers can easily follow. Overall, the description of your home should be at least 120 words. Here are some other tips for writing your description: 

  • Write a brief introduction about your property using descriptive words. This is where you can be creative and paint a visual image of what experience your property offers travelers. 
  • Write a description for each bedroom and bathroom you offer. Many travelers opting for short-term home rentals travel in large groups. Cater to this need by providing detailed descriptions of each room to help travelers plan their sleeping arrangements. 
  • Highlight some of your home’s amenities that other listings might not have. If you have a kitchen, list the appliances or dinnerware you have that will make guests feel at home. Consider other key offerings such as high-speed internet access or cable TV. Don’t forget to mention outdoor amenities such as the pool, backyard, balcony, or BBQ grill. A single amenity can make a difference when a traveler is making a final decision.

1. What are the different components of property descriptions and their purposes?

Each paragraph should include a category summary. Many users only read the first sentence, so it should contain the most important information. The description should end with a context summary that helps a traveler visualize that property as an integral part of the vacation or business travel he or she is booking.

Category summary

Most travelers think about their accommodation in broad, standardized categories, and it’s therefore important to immediately inform the user of what kind of category the property fits in.

  • Traveler purpose: Transit hotel, business and convention hotel, road motel, beach resort, etc. These categories allow user to immediately identify or un-identify with the property.
  • Property infrastructure or building type: Large resort or small BnB, modern or historic, high-rise or hidden alley, the building itself tells a big part of the story.
  • Location: Near the airport, in the gothic quarter, atop a mountain, next to the golf course, these aspects help the user evaluate the property in relation to their anticipated itinerary.
  • Price: Supremely indulgent, luxury, mid-price, high-value, budget – sure, the user can see the actual prices on the page, but they also want to compare those prices to their own preconceived notions of what they should be getting for those prices.

“The Continent Bangkok is a modern business hotel located in Bangkok’s CBD is closely situated to the capital’s embassies, premium offices, and high-end retail centers, providing a convenient base for efficient access to the city’s business and leisure activities.”

 

Context summary

Every property description should end with a strong selling summary that promotes the property as the ideal setting for the kind of traveler to its features, location, and price will attract.

Example: Large business hotel in a high-rise office complex

“For serious business or just a high-class holiday in the center of this vibrant city, the Continent offers the best in five-star amenities and an unparalleled location that will save you time and effort on every day of your stay.”

Sila semak seting penginapan anda dalam YCS dahulu. Sebarang perubahan yang dibuat akan diselaraskan secara automatik dalam masa 14 hari. Jika penerangan masih tidak betul selepas 14 hari, sila hubungi kami untuk bantuan selanjutnya.

2. Bolehkah saya meminta untuk menukar penerangan? Atau bolehkah saya mengemas kini penerangan berdasarkan keutamaan saya?

Namun, kami tidak dapat mengubah penerangan secara manual dan tiada pilihan teks bebas. Sila ambil perhatian bahawa semua penerangan penginapan akan disemak oleh Agoda untuk pematuhan, kepanjangan dan kualiti. Namun, jika terdapat sebarang kandungan lapuk atau salah yang tidak sama dengan maklumat yang anda berikan di YCS, sila hubungi kami untuk bantuan selanjutnya.

3. I've updated my property description in YCS. Why hasn't the change been reflected in the automatically generated property description?

Changes synch automatically within 14 days. If the changes aren’t reflected after 14 days, please contact us for assistance.
