Airline Weekly reports that the push to replace short flights in the EU has found an unlikely ally in Air France. The French national airline is testing a “new, fully digitalized service” that lets travelers to check in on the Air France website or app for their entire trip including SCNF rail– removing the need for them to stop at a train station for their rail tickets. While 160,000 Air France travelers use its Train + Air service annually, it’s still less than 1 percent of the 52.2 million passengers that flew Air France in 2019. Increasing that number is part of their stated climate goals.
