BBC reports that all previous allowances for quarantine-free travel to the UK have been suspended, and that all arriving visitors and returning residents from all countries will now be required to show a negative COVID-19 test that is less than 72 hours old. Quarantine for up to 10 days may still be required, depending on specific circumstances. The only exceptions are arrivals from St Helena, the Falklands, and Ascension Islands. A total ban on travel from South America, Portugal, and Cape Verde is also now in place. Spokespersons for the UK travel industry have been mixed in their response, with some citing concerns about the economics of another shutdown. Over the weekend, a further 38,598 cases were confirmed in the UK.
