Free child policies for your property can be set up and managed in YCS to attract family bookings more easily. Free child policies also significantly impact occupancy levels and help increase revenue. To start setting up your child policies, first define the ages for infants and children at the property level, then apply these settings to your room types. Your settings will then be reflected on Agoda, ensuring the correct room type appears based on the traveler’s search.

  1. Sign in to YCS.
  2. Click on Property >> Property settings >> Property age policy.
  3. Under Age policy, set the Minimum guest age allowed at property.
  4. Tick the boxes for Allow infants in the property and Allow children in the property and define the ages.
    • Set the ages for an infant to be between 0 and 5 years old, depending on the minimum age allowed at the property.
    • Set the ages for a child to be between 1 and 21 years old, depending on the infant age settings and the minimum age allowed at the property.
    • Guests older than the maximum age for a child are considered adults.
  5. Set the Default number of children allowed in each room.
    • This limits how many children can stay in rooms at your property. You can override this setting for each room type in the Room setup page.
  6. Toggle the Occupancy control to On or Off to determine how maximum room occupancy is calculated. Maximum occupancy will be calculated according to the details you provide in the Room occupancy section of Room setup.
    • When Occupancy control is set to On, the number of adults, children, and infants that can stay in a room (including the number of children allowed for free) is limited to the total of the following: Number of guests allowed in this room and Number of extra beds.
    • When Occupancy control is set to Off, maximum occupancy is equal to the total of the following: Number of guests allowed in this room, Number of extra beds, and Number of children allowed for free.

For these settings to take effect, ensure that your rooms are set to allow children:

  1. Click on Property >> Rooms.
  2. Select the room you want to view or edit from the list.
  3. Click Room occupancy.
  4. Set Allow children in this room to Yes.
  5. Set the Number of children allowed for free.
    • Tick the box for Use the current value from the Property settings page. This will allow all children in this room to stay for free, based on the value you provided for Default number of children allowed in each room in the Property age policy page (your preferred settings at the property level).
  6. Review your settings and click Save.
