This guide explains how to set up and customize your free child policy at both the property and room levels, ensuring your settings are accurately reflected on Agoda.
How do I allow children to stay free at my property?
Free child policies for your property can be set up and managed in YCS to more easily attract family bookings. Free child policies also significantly impact occupancy levels and help increase revenue. To start setting up your child policies, first define the ages for infants and children at the property level, then apply these settings to your room types. Your settings will then be reflected on Agoda, ensuring the correct room type appears based on the traveler’s search.
- Navigate to YCS >> Property >> Property settings.
- In the left-hand menu, click on Property age policy.
- In the Age policy section, set the Minimum guest age allowed at property.
- Tick the box for Allow infants in the property and set the age for an infant to be between 0 and 5 years old, depending on the minimum age allowed at the property.
- Tick the box for Allow children in the property and set the ages for a child to be between 1 and 21 years old, depending on the infant age settings and the minimum age allowed at the property.
Note: Guests older than the maximum age for a child are considered adults.
- Set the Default number of children allowed in each room. This limits how many children can stay for free in a room at your property. You can override this setting for each room type on the YCS >> Property >> Room setup
- Toggle the Occupancy control on/off to determine how maximum room occupancy is calculated. Maximum occupancy will be calculated according to the details you provide in the Room occupancy section of Room setup.
- When Occupancy control is set to On, the number of adults, children, and infants that can stay in a room (including the number of children allowed for free) is limited to the total of the following: Number of guests allowed in this room and Number of extra beds.
- When Occupancy control is set to Off, maximum occupancy is equal to the total of the following: Number of guests allowed in this room, Number of extra beds, and Number of children allowed for free.
How do I reflect the free child policy on each of my rooms?
The steps above set the free child policy at the property level. To ensure that these settings take effect at the room level, double check that your rooms are set to allow children.
- Navigate to YCS >> Property >> Room setup.
- Select the room you want to view or edit from the list.
- Click the Room occupancy tab at the top of the page.
- Set Allow children in this room to Yes.
- At the room level, you can choose to either:
- Customize the Number of children allowed for free by selecting a number.
- Or, tick the box for Use the current value from the Property settings page. This will allow all children in this room to stay for free, based on the value you provided for Default number of children allowed in each room in the Property age policy page (step #6 from above).
- Review your settings and click Save.
