Bangkok Post: South Korean Passport Demand To Exceed Capacity
The Bangkok Post reports that the return of travel may see a surge in demand for passports by South Korean citizens looking to travel abroad, which may overwhelm production capability. According the Korea Minting, Security Printing & ID Card Operating Corp (Komsco), the government is expecting over 10 million applications for new and renewed passports in 2022, more than double its annual capacity of 4.5 to 5 million. Waiting times may increase as a result, but overall the trend is expected to bring eonomic recovery to the country through volume for its tour agents.
