CNA: Malaysia Suspends Umrah Travel
CNA reports that Malaysia will suspend its citizens umrah travel to Saudi Arabia, effective January 8, due to increasing concerns about the COVID-19 Omicron variant. Health minister Khairy Jamaluddin made the announcement on New Year’s Day, as well as new quarantine requirements for returning pilgrims. The country has confirmed only 64 Omicron cases, half of which are connected to umrah pilgrimages.
