CNBC reports that the United States lifting of travel inbound restrictions for non-citizens went into effect today, resulting in a surge of arrivals and many tearful reunion scenes at US airports. The lifting of restrictions for arrivals from 33 countries, including many EU states which had relaxed their own inbound travel in the spring, has caused a surge of bookings for the holiday season. Flight bookings from Brazil and the U.K. are up about 70% over the past week, accoridng to the chief revenue officer of American Airlines. A Virgin Atlantic spokeswoman said its U.S. flights today are 98% full.
