This article guides you through Agoda’s promotions landscape and how promotions can be stacked.

What are promotions?

Promotions are marketing initiatives designed to increase bookings through enhanced visibility. Promotions can include strategic placement and advertising on Agoda, special deals or discounts for customers, and other marketing efforts.

Type of promotions

Agoda offers multiple promotions, allowing you the tools and flexibility to attract a wider audience, offer strategic pricing during peak travel seasons, or promote your property for special events. Promotions can be activated from each of the 3 promotion types:

1. Seasonal promotions: Promotional campaigns targeting travelers during specific events or holidays.
2. Essential promotions: Promotions that can be tailored according to your needs.
3. Targeted promotions: Promotions targeting specific groups of travelers based on 5 categories: Product, Loyalty, Geography, Platform, and Beds Network.

How promotions can be stacked

Promotion types can be stacked, as outlined below, helping you to provide competitive rates and drive bookings. Stacking is applied according to the conditions of each promotion, including the customer’s eligibility.

• Seasonal promotions:
  Seasonal promotions can be stacked with Essential and/or Targeted promotions. If you activate more than one Seasonal promotion, note that they cannot be stacked together and only one Seasonal promotion will be applied at any time. For example, if you set up New Year Sale and Super Wednesday and the customer is eligible for both, the system will only apply the promotion that offers the most competitive rate.
• Essential promotions:
  Essential promotions can be stacked with Seasonal and/or Targeted promotions. If you activate more than one Essential promotion, note that these can be applied together. For example, if a customer’s search is eligible for both Early Bird and Long Stay promotions, the discount shown can be stacked (both promotions added together).
• Targeted promotions:
  Targeted promotions can be stacked with Seasonal and/or Essential promotions. If you activate more than one Targeted promotion, note that these can only be applied together if they are from different categories. Targeted promotion categories include Product, Loyalty, Geography, Platform, and Beds Network. When setting up a Targeted promotion, click on Stacking detail to see the promotion’s category and the maximum discount that will be offered when stacked with your other active Targeted promotions. The calculation summary shown in Stacking detail will not include your active Seasonal and Essential promotions.
