A star rating is an internationally recognized way of classifying properties based on the type of property and facilities offered, ranging from 1 to 5 stars. In this article, we will outline how you can request to update your star rating along with the necessary documentation.

How does a star rating work? 

Overall, the star classification is a representation of how the accommodation compares to the industry standards in terms of price, facilities, and available services. These requirements and standards vary between countries and organizations.

The property star ratings that appear on Agoda are determined by one of the following:

  • Official hotel rating organization classifications
  • National or Regional government ratings
  • Agoda star rating classifications

How can I set my star rating? 

If you are not an Agoda partner yet, you can set your star rating upon registration. Click here for instructions. Agoda will verify the star rating you provide as part of registration.

For an existing Agoda partner, you will need to provide one of the following documents below along with your request:

  • Official star rating certificate from hotel rating organization or government
  • Signed Agoda Star Rating Checklist (refer to attached pdf below)

Please attach the document in your request to Agoda Accommodation Support via the “Need Help” button in the YCS.
