You can set your property cancellation policy in YCS, and how you do this may depend on your property type. Learn more about property types here.
Setting the cancellation policy for hotel-type properties and multi-unit homes
Set a cancellation policy for your property
- Sign in to YCS. If you manage multiple properties, select it from Listings.
- Go to Property >> Cancellation policies.
- Click Add cancellation.
- Set the stay dates the policy will apply to.
- Select your cancellation policy from the dropdown.
- Select the rate plans the policy will apply to.
- Click Save.
Setting a temporary cancellation policy
In the same way you set a cancellation policy for your property, you can set a temporary cancellation policy for certain stay dates and rate plans. This policy will apply to bookings when it is the strictest one among the cancellation policies set for your property, the policy for the rate plan, and the policy of any Targeted promotion applied to the booking.
Which cancellation policy applies to a booking?
When more than one cancellation policy can apply to a booking, we use a defined set of rules to determine which one takes effect.
- If your property offers EasyCancel, this policy will always apply.
- If EasyCancel is not offered, the strictest cancellation policy from any applicable Seasonal and Essential promotions will apply.
- If EasyCancel is not offered and the booking does not include a Seasonal or Essential promotion, the strictest cancellation policy among the rate plan, any applicable Targeted promotions, and any policies set on the Cancellation policies page will apply.
Additionally, if a rate plan is sent from your channel manager without a cancellation policy, the strictest policy set on the Cancellation policies page will apply by default.
Setting the cancellation policy for single-unit homes
- Sign in to YCS. If you manage multiple properties, select it from Listings.
- Go to Rates and availability >> Booking settings.
- Select your cancellation policy from the dropdown, then click Save.
Which cancellation policy applies to a booking?
When more than one cancellation policy can apply to a booking, we use a defined set of rules to determine which one takes effect.
- If your property offers EasyCancel, EasyCancel will always apply.
- If EasyCancel is not offered, the strictest cancellation policy from any applicable Essential promotions will apply.
- If EasyCancel is not offered and the booking does not include a Seasonal or Essential promotion, the strictest cancellation policy among applicable Targeted promotions and the one set on Booking settings will apply.
